On Friday 19 September, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Nadav, Niv, Aseel, Ohad, Sadik and Neta to The Portsmouth Academy to perform.
Years 7–10 at The Portsmouth Academy enjoyed an unforgettable visit from As1one, the world’s first Jewish–Arab boy band.
Students and staff sang and danced along with As1One as they performed their songs, 'Stranger' and ' Together As One' as well as some fantastic covers by Sabrina Carpenter, Fun and Ed Sheeran.
Their performance was more than just music – it carried a message:
Stand together as one – respect all cultures, faiths, and backgrounds.
Say no to bullying and support friends who feel left out.
Challenge discrimination and celebrate our differences.
Make sure everyone – including LGBTQ+ students – feels safe and valued.
Speak openly about the pressure of academic success – exams and schoolwork can feel tough, and it’s okay to ask for help.
The band encouraged students to reach out and talk – to friends, family, or a trusted adult – if they ever feel worried, stressed, or unsafe. They reminded us that sharing problems is a sign of strength, not weakness.
Ms Williams, Associate Leader for Humanities, said:
It was a fantastic day for students and As1One's energy and honesty left students inspired to support one another and to continue to thrive in a school community based on kindness, respect, and understanding.
