University of Portsmouth welcomes The Portsmouth Academy pupils for taster day

A group of Year 8 pupils from The Portsmouth Academy enjoyed the opportunity to delve into the world of higher education at the University of Portsmouth recently.

This Taster Day, called 'Behind Closed Doors', provided a glimpse into various academic disciplines, igniting curiosity and passion among our students.

Throughout the day, these eager learners participated in three engaging taster sessions, each offering an insight into different subjects. From the intricacies of fashion and textiles to the intriguing world of forensic linguistics, the day was filled with exploration and discovery.

One of our students, Poppy, shared her enthusiasm about the experience, saying: "Going to the University was an incredible experience.

I feel excited and inspired for the future. When I first heard about the session 'Behind Closed Doors', it sounded very mysterious, but when I saw that it was an operating theatre, I was in awe! It was just so inspiring."

These taster sessions not only provided our students with a glimpse into various academic disciplines but also instilled in them a sense of aspiration and ambition for their future endeavours.
