Last Thursday, a group of 15 Year 10 students from The Portsmouth Academy had the unique opportunity to visit the Army Barracks at Thorney Island.
The event was organised to provide students with insight into the diverse range of job opportunities offered by the army.
The visit featured stands representing various job roles within the army, allowing students to explore different career paths first hand.
Students had the chance to engage with serving personnel, gaining valuable insights into their lived experiences and the opportunities available within the army.
Among the highlights of the event were stands showcasing sporting teams within the British army.
Students had the opportunity to interact with serving personnel from these teams, learning about the opportunities and experiences gained through serving in the army.
Reflecting on her experience, Adetilewa shared her enthusiasm, and said: "It was a great experience to see the Barracks in real life and also speak to so many different professions within the Army industry.
“My favourite part was the virtual reality stand where I got experience jumping out of an aircraft plane. It’s opened my eyes to see that within the Army there are so many career pathways.”
