The Speaker with The Orange Tie Visits TPA

November 21, 2022 03:03pm

The Speaker with the Orange Tie, Steve Beckles- Ebusua, recently visited TPA to deliver motivational talks to Year 10 and 11 students ahead of their GCSEs.

In the Year 10 session, Steve challenged the Year 10 students to re-evaluate the beliefs they held about their ability to attain at school. He asked students to think about whether the thing holding them back is in their heads. Steve's presentation showed students how looking at things differently and having an open mind may help them achieve success before sharing with students some revision strategies they could use to help them reach their goals.

Here’s what some of our students thought about the sessions:

This workshop was good and has really motivated me to push myself in life. I am studying and doing more homework.

- Luke

It was really motivating and good to have a different perspective of education. Revision is perceived as negative but even though it is hard, it’s beneficial so it was good for us to hear that message.

- Halimah

It helped me make revision not boring as the methods have made revision fun. They really work.

- Tahidul

Mr Andrews, Assistant Principal for Key Stage 4, said:

Steve engaged the students with his uniquely engaging presentation about the revision and exams. Students left the room motivated about using his top tips which included; recording notes and listening to them back, writing revision timetables and student favourite; the 30:10 method; revising for 30 minutes with 10 minute breaks. I am excited to see how students embed the techniques in their preparation for their exams.
