TPA Dance Company Performs at Once a Sea Event

November 28, 2024 12:06pm

The Portsmouth Academy's Dance Company have performed at the "Once a Sea" art installation in St Mary's Church. The art installation is part of the We Shine Portsmouth event taking place this November.

The students have been preparing for the performance since the beginning of October, putting together the dance routine and holding rehearsals after school. Mrs Parker, Lead Teacher for Dance, choreographed the piece in collaboration with the Dance Captains and the Dance Company students.

Dancing to Ellie Goulding’s “Dead in the Water”, the students used delicate blue scarves to portray the movement of the water in the sea and to highlight moments in the music to the audience. The visually stunning backdrop of the art installation projected in the church created a beautiful and tranquil atmosphere. Some of the audience said the enchanting performance piece along with the music and atmosphere at the church brought tears to their eyes.

Congratulations to the Dance Company and Mrs Parker for their wonderful performance and for representing the very best of TPA!
