Is your child looking to start secondary school in September 2027? We’d love to welcome you to The Portsmouth Academy for our Open Event on Thursday 1st October 2026, from 6-8pm.
We’re so excited to be opening our doors to Year 6 pupils and their families to see our wonderful school in action.
Alongside a welcome from our Executive Principal, Mr D. Botting, current students at the school will be on hand to give tours, answer questions, and share what they love about the different subjects available.
There’ll also be the chance to try some free food on offer from our Food Technology department and see our range of modern facilities in action, such as our multi-use games area!
As a member of the Thinking Schools Academy Trust, we’re committed to Transforming the Life Chances of every pupil.
Our school uses metacognition to support students to become self-reflective learners, and Mr Botting explains why thinking about our thinking is so important to our culture.

Mr Botting discussed the student experience here at The Portsmouth Academy, which aims to enrich their learning in a variety of different ways.
“We want to make sure our pupils have a unique set of experiences during their time in school. Our curriculum is ambitious, broad, and provides pupils with the opportunity to study a range of different subjects.
“Alongside this, there’s also lots of extra-curricular activities and some exciting trips overseas”.
At The Portsmouth Academy, we strive to work closely with our families and parents to ensure every pupil receives the best possible experience.
At our Open Event, there’ll be plenty of opportunities to have an informal chat with our wonderful staff, who will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.
